ICVFX COURSE CURRICULUM

In this course, you will learn:

INTRO

The history of In-Camera VFX, on-set workflows, team roles, and LED Volume setup and safety.

 

HARDWARE & SOFTWARE

A holistic overview of ICVFX hardware, setup and workflow, automation techniques, and on-set communication.

 

ART

The principles of virtual and practical set dressing, colour matching, and an intro to Photogrammetry, Nerf, and Gaussian Splatting.

 

LIGHTING

The importance of good lighting principles for practical sets, and techniques for lighting cars, actors, and objects.

 

CAMERA

Camera setup and calibration, ARRI Colour Management, metadata management, lens calibration, and camera tracking with a guest instructor from ARRI.

 

ON-SET TRAINING

Tools for Directors and DOPs, on-set control, and best practices.

 

PRESENTATION

Participants will also produce a virtual production short film to apply course learnings.

Ivan Tymoshenko

Technical Director of X3D Studio

Ivan Tymoshenko is a seasoned VFX Specialist and Technical Director with extensive experience in high-profile films.

 

At X3D Studio, he has been instrumental in advancing filmmaking through cutting-edge technologies like Photogrammetry and Motion Capture. His expertise extends to roles such as XR LED Technical Director and BOLT Robot Lead Technician, where he oversees everything from setup to strategic problem-solving.

 

As a proficient CG Generalist, Ivan excels in VFX and CGI using tools like Unreal Engine® and Cinema 4D, complemented by his extensive hardware knowledge.

 

His significant contributions to projects like 'The Creator', ‘Fistful of Vengeance’, ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’, and ‘Ms. Marvel’ highlights his ability to blend creativity with technology, inspiring others in the filmmaking industry.

Robert Payton

Specialist & Consultant of ARRI

Robert Payton is a seasoned Director and Cinematographer with over 35 years of experience in television and advertising, having worked in more than 40 countries.

 

His impressive client list includes Unilever, PepsiCo, McDonald's, and Diageo. He spent 15 years in South Africa working on international productions with Grinder Films and WeShootFood in Cape Town.

 

As an early adopter of Virtual Production, he has spent the last two years consulting for ARRI on Virtual Productions, aiding clients, agencies, and DOPs in transitioning to filming in LED environments.

 

Robert has directed and shot over 40 hours of broadcast TV and over 100 commercials. His accolades include Best Documentary at the New York Film and TV Festival, Glenfiddich Best Food Program, The Royal Television Society’s Best Use of Music award, and nominations for BTAA Cinematography, D&AD, and Kinsale Sharks.

Virtual & Practical Art Director of X3D Studio

Kenneth Kee is a visionary set designer known for his ability to blend virtual and practical elements, creating immersive visual experiences that enhance narratives and captivate audiences.

 

Since 2003, his career has spanned a diverse range of projects, including TV commercials, feature films, and short films. Kenneth's expertise also extends to reality television, where he has art-directed popular shows like Asia's Got Talent, Asia's Next Top Model, Asian Dream, Cesar's Recruit Asia, and SupernodelMe.

 

His role requires a unique fusion of creativity, technical skill, and collaboration, making his journey both challenging and exhilarating.

James Hia is a Singapore-based Director of Photography with a background in graphic design and a passion for cinematic storytelling.

Recently, he has gained recognition for his expertise in virtual production, contributing to innovative projects like "Circle Line," "IBU," and "The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition." Known for his unique perspective, collaborative spirit, and meticulous attention to detail, James consistently elevates projects and crafts visually captivating narratives.
